Warm Up (10 mins)

Setup:

Two 10x10 (this can increase with age) grids, and separate into two groups, one in each grid. All GK’s except one has a ball. The one without is the GK working.

• This warm-up revisits diving at feet from the previous week.

• GK’s with the ball must aim to keep the ball in the grid away from

the working GK. The working GK must try and dive onto a ball at

one of the GK’s feet.

• Once they get a ball, the GK they took it off now becomes the

working GK who must try and dive onto a ball. The game keeps rolling.

Note: Depending on numbers, have two GK’s without a ball.

Core Skill pt 1 (15 mins)

Setup:

Enough 10x10 grids for GK’s to be in pairs. In each grid, GK’s start opposite sides.

Technique Correction

• This short pratice is just rolling and throwing back and forth to get the correct technique for both types of distribution.

• Have the GK’s focus on all the different techniques and the coach will move around the group and offer help to individual GK’s

End Game (15 mins)

Setup:

Set 5 cones a yard apart, and place a ball on the end two and middle cone. In line with the middle cone, place a cone 10 yards away. Split group into three or four teams depending on group size. Repeat the cone setup for each group.

Game:

• Split the group into three or four teams, with each group having one ball.

• Aim of the game is to roll the ball from the start cone at the balls on the

target cones, to knock one of them off.

• If a ball is knocked off, the GK must go and collect that ball and put it on a

free cone on one of the other teams target cones.

• The GK must then collect their team ball and run back to their group and tag

the next GK to go.

• The winning team is the first team to knock all the balls off their target cones.

• If a GK knocks two balls off at a time, they must place both balls on the other

team’s cones, or split them between two teams.

• To make the game easier or harder, move the starting cone closer or further

away from the target cones.

• Advance by increasing distance and playing the game with overarm throws.
