Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand why it is important to take a first touch that sets us up for an immediate next action.
2. Look up after we take the first touch on possession.

Organization:
- Same grid as prior activities and teams from prior activities.
- Blue team is now in the center and defends.
Instructions:
- Teams of 3 players, keep passing the ball with the same intention as the previous activity (technical repetitions). However, now a player has the option of crosssing to the opposite-side end zone by dribbling and beating a defender, or keep passing. If a successfully, dribbles across, he/she gets 5 points.
- Defenders cannot go into end zones. If defender wins possession, now he/she needs to dribble to a safe zone (endzone) and his/her team can now start the rotation.
Coaching Points/Questions:
- After I take a first touch, can I look up and see: (1) can I go through center? (2) Should I pass to a teammate.
- What if I recognize space behind or to the side of the defender, can I beat him/her?
- Can my first touch set me up to have the ball in front and put my head up to make a decision?

4v4 small sided game.
Reemphasize topic: once I come in contact with ball, can I take a first touch and look up?

What? The first touch upon receiving or coming into contact with the ball. Can we 'catch' the ball with our foot and have the ball within our control?
When? Upon receiving, or when coming into contact with the ball?
Where? On the field, at any position
Who? Any player on possession
Why? In order to set us up for the next action, whether a pass or a dribble and to control the ball.
What ifs? What if there is space in front, then can we take a longer touch? What if we see pressure coming, can we take the first touch towards our body?

Organization:
- Same set up as before, with the addition of 1 ball per team. Players are now playing ball on target zones.
Instructions:
- White Team: passes the ball clockwise and ball has to go from zone to zone.
- Red Team: same as white team but counter-clockwise rotation.
- Blue Team: passes ball clockwise or counter-clockwise.
- Every pass is a point, if a ball hits another ball or a player from a different point, then the team loses all of its points.
Coaching Points/Questions:
- Can we find a clear path to the ball when we recieve?
- Can we 'catch' the ball with our foot (straight line underneath chest)?
- Can we recognize when to receive with the back foot?
Progressions:
(1) One of the teams defends in the middle.
(2) Upon coach's command, change direction.
