Same set up as previous technique drill. Now when the player passes the ball, they will now defend the player receiving the ball. The player passing no longer has to tell the player receiving what gate they can go through. The player recenting gets to decide what gate they want to go through. The gate behind them is 1 point, the two gates beside the player is 2 points, the gate in front of the them is worth 3 points.
Coaching Points:
- Control Mechanics
- Knowing where you go before you receive the ball

Each third is 15 yards long and 30 yards wide.
2 players from each team will be on the outside thirds. There will be 2 neutrals playing in the middle group that willl play with both teams. The players on the outside thirds can't leave their area, one midfielder can join the attack once the ball has been played into that area. Neutral players have 2 touches as they are unopposed. If the ball goes out of play, it always starts with the keeper. Goal is to score in the oppositions goal. 1 point for scoring a goal. 2 points for playing a direct ball from the outside third to the other outside third.
Progressions/Regressions:
- To add a challenge, if they can control a ball in the air and score its worth 3
Coaching Points:
- Can your first touch be towards the goal (also open body shape to allow first touch to go towards target)
- Knowing where you go before you receive the ball
- Post up, can you receive the ball and bounce it or can you turn
Control Technique (5 mins)
Each group of players will have a set of 4 gates around the one cone. One player will be within the gates and the rest will be in a line in the other line. Extra balls will be with the group of players in the line. The pass will be around 10 yards long.
The player in the front of the line will pass the ball to the player within the gates. At the same time they will tell a player a color (red, blue, green or yellow) based on the cone gate colors. Whatever color is called the player receiving will then move the ball to the corresponding colored gate. The player that passed will now move to the gates and the player who just received the ball will go to the end of the line.
