How are the back line positioned?

Can centre backs come closer together to prevent a shot or movement through the middle?

Can full backs come tighter to the centre backs to cover the box?

With a more compact 4 the ball is then encoureged out wide.

How can the back line deal with this?

- whole line to push up into position and pressing

- closest centre back to press the man on the ball while closing space inside

- next centre back to push up and come inside more to keep compact and force play out wide.

- full backs also pushing up and coming more compact

- whole line consider timing of line movement to potentially catch anyone offside but also pressing as a unit not to create any channels or spaces for them to play through
