FOCUS OF THE WARM UP.
In today's session we will be focusing on keeping possession, scanning and keeping composure on the ball.
In game 1, tight spaces can make us react poorly because all we're thinking about is I am going to be pressed and I need to get rid of the ball. In this game I want the opposite I want the players to cope under pressure and in any direction you're going to find a team mate. The gk's cannot be tackled in this practice so it gives the players more time to think where the next pass should go. Teams cannot score before they have completed 3 passes from 1 gk to the other. The ball needs to travel from one side to the other which means at some point you're going to have to confront your opponent and you're going to have to be creative by movement and passing. Can we scan where our team mate is before we receive the ball? can we scan which area we might dribble the ball to before we receive the ball? if we pass back to the gk, what's my movement going to be and how will that give me the edge on my opponent? These are questions that players should be thinking about before committing to a move. Once the ball has been from 1 gk to the other and 6 passes have been completed, the team can score. In that case, what will the defending team do?
