The Roll/Step

Organization:
10x20 grid- Set up x3 depending on numbers being high
6x small cones per grid diagram eg (1 grid)
2x tall cones
Each group starts with one ball.
Instructions:
1. The players must now drible to the tall cone take a touch out of their feet, then strike the ball to the oposite line still following up with a run as shown.
Coaching Points:
- Messi dribble to tall cone
- Take a touch past the cone into the space and out of your feet
- Angle of approach off center
- Head up to observe the target
- Head down at the point of contact
- Non-kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball
- Ankle locked, toe down
- Contact ball – will vary depending on target area
- Contact foot – laces (instep)
- Body weight forward, chest and knee over the ball at contact
- Follow through landing on striking foot
Progressions:
Tall cones are removed and semi pressure is applied. Defenders are only allowed to pressure, as the player strikes the ball he now will follow up with a run as before but towards the new striking player allowing them to take a touch out of there feet and be more game realistic with the setting to strike movements.

Organization:
-3 areas of 20x10 set up as shown
-5 yard scoring zone where defenders cannot go into
-3 groups of players
-3 Pugg goals
Instructions:
-Players are placed in groups depending upon skill level
-Individual competition between players of each group
-Player at front of line tries to beat defender staying within zone and score to gain a point for him/herself.
-If goal is scored/ball goes out of play/ball is won by defender that 1v1 game is over, the attacker becomes the defender, and the next attacker comes into field to try and score.
-If player uses a moves successfully and scores, they gain 3 points.
-Player from each group with most amount of points wins.
Coaching Points:
-Good positive first touch
-Controlled approach
-Observe defenders position
-Attackers defenders front foot
-Execution of move
-Take touch back across the defender and accelerate away

Organization:
1. 12 players
2. Four teams of 3 players
3. Two grids (25x15)
Instructions:
1. Red team starts attacking first on both games
2. Red players must dribble towards defender and attempt to beat them with the dribble
3. Blue players must attempt to win the ball while protecting goals
4. If blue player wins the ball roles are switched instantly and Blue team will attempt to score on the red teams gates (dribble through under control.
5. Players receive a point if they dribble with control through gates
6. After 1 minute blue becomes the attacking team and red defends
Coaching Points:
1. Dribble at players at speed
2. Timing of move (ex:Feint-Single scissors)
3. Change of speed (accelaration) while still keeping control of the ball

Organization: 3v3
1. 40x30 grid set up as shown
2. Team seperated into four groups
3. One ball per field with multiple by each goal.
Instructions:
1. Teams will play 5 min games.
2. Water Break
3. Winning teams will play each other.
Coaching Points:
1 Point = Scoring a goal
2 Points= Turning against defender
Warm Up (5 mins)
Organization:
Every Player starts with own ball inside 20x30 grid.
Instructions:
PART I:
- Players start offf with Messi and Ronaldo touches, choosing the correct time for each, i.e. tight spaces use messi touches, open space use ronaldo touches.
- After a few minutes, challenge is introduced. Players now race to 50+ touches using Messi, Ronaldo, or a combination of the two.
PART II:
- Players dribble throughout area using any part of foot and wait for different commands.
1) Change! When coach shouts change players must leave their ball and find a new one.
2) Outside! When coach yells outside all players must dribble out of the boundary stop the ball and come back in.
3) Incorporate static ball-mastery such as toe taps, stationary scissors, etc
4) Can end with game where after every switch, a ball is taken out of the field, continually decreasing to where there is only one ball left and winner is the one who gets to it first.
Coaching Points:
-Head up to look for open space.
-Keep ball close to feet when in crowded area (can you take small touches)
-Takee big touches in opeen space.
-Use correct dribbling technique (pinky toe touches, shoe laces)
Progressions:
-If lose ball outside of area, or hit another player/ball you lose 10 counts in race to 50.
