Ball Mastery (15 mins)

Organization:

Organize grids 20 yards long by 8 yards wide.

1 ball per grid.

1 player per grid.

Instruction:

Each player dribbles (close control dribble) inside their grid.

Coach will give instructions on what they are to perform until coach says stop.

Toe taps, tick tocks, step overs, cross overs, pull backs, v cuts, fake chop, juggles.

Players are to be constantly moving performing the various moves, lots of touches is key.

Race (20 mins)

Organization:

Place RED cones 20 yards apart, for a total of 60 yards.

Place YELLOW cones 10 yards behind the middle two RED cones.

Line up balls across the field, spaced at least 5 yards apart.

Instructions:


Players line up at least 5 yards apart at first red cone, spaced out accross the field.

When coach yells GO, players must sprint to the next red cone.

Once they get to where the red cone is, they must do backwards knee highs to the yellow cone.

Once at the yellow cone, they sprint to the next red cone and repeat.

When they sprint to the last cone, there will be a ball in front of them that they have to get during their sprint and dribble to the end of the field.

-NOTE- If coach yells Transition! every player must leave their ball, sprint to the beginning and repeat.

Top 3 players get to relax while rest of squad does burpees.

Start the attack @ half (20 mins)

Organization:

Divide field into 2 sections.

Cones setup as 4 defenders, 2 outside midfielders and 1 striker.

Balls in the center circle.

Instructions:

Central defenders decide which side to pass the ball to.

Once the pass goes to an outside defender, they lay it off to an outside midfielder.

Once the outside midfielder gets the ball (passed into space, run to pass), they dribble down the line.

Once they start dribbling down the line, the outside defender that passed to the midfielder attacks the near post, opposite midfielder attacks the far post, and striker times their runs to the middle/top of the box.

Once the player with the ball dribbles down the wing, they can either pass to the overlapping defender, to the striker, or cross to the far post.

Defenders shift over once the attack starts, and all players rotate counter clockwise after each attack.

Game (30 mins)

Organization:

12 (or more depending on players) 8x8 grids, separated by 6 feet wide, and 8 yards length.

1 player per grid (team).

Instructions:


Each team must make 10 passes.

Once they make 10 passes, they must try to get the ball to the far team (only driven passes).

If they succeed, they get a point.

If the middle/defending team intercepts the pass, or the passing team passes outside the large multi grid area, rotate defenders.

First to 5 (10? See how quickly they gain points) points wins, and the rest of the players do 20 burpees.

Repeat then switch teams.

Focus on positioning of defending players, as the ball goes from grid to grid, the defender in the grid must step up to the top of their grid, and the players beside them must drop to support. Minimal interruptions, let them play!
