Y-Heading (Simulating heading away a cross)
• P1 throws to P2 and follows to take P2's position
• P2 heads (glancing header) to P3 and then moves to free side (position 4)
• P3 dribbles back

• Body shape, awareness of where to direct header
• Stronger feeds, throw-in style, rather than underarm

• Higher feeds with jumping headers

• Attackers must throw the ball to their teammates to get the ball down the field.
• In order to score, a player must throw the ball to a teammate and have them head it into the goal.
• Attackers only have 3 steps then must throw the ball to a teammate
• If the ball goes out, play restarts with a throw in from the side, corner or goal area as appropriate
Coaching Points
• Movement off the ball is key
• Know where your teammates are
• Use team work to get the ball down the field
• Head the ball towards the ground when trying to score
Progressions
• Add goalkeeper
• Defenders can win ball back by tagging player holding ball
• Turnover possession if ball hits the ground

• 2 neutral players in the wide channels
Instructions
• The 2 neutral players stay in the channels and are the only players allowed there
• No one can go in the channel to defend
• To score, the ball must be played out to a channel player in the attacking half, who crosses the ball in
• Scoring can be either a volley or header
• Scoring with a volley is 1 point, scoring off a header is 5 points
Coaching Points
• Keep eyes on the ball
• Judge the speed and the height of the ball
Progressions:
• Neutral player has limited touches or time
• Neutral player can only be passed to in the attacking half

• 10 by 10 Circle
• Position players around the circle, coach in centre
Instructions
• Coach serves the ball underarm to any player in the circle.
• Player controls and returns based on coach command 'Header', 'Volley', 'Catch', 'Chest'
• Player then runs around circle back to their position
• If the player does the wrong comand, the player must do 5 star jumps and then run around the circle and then back to their original position
Coaching Points
1. Head the ball with the forehead back into the coaches hands
2. Keep your eyes on the ball and head up
