Set up: 20Lx15y grid, team split into 2 even teams. Have multiple grids set up to make sure there is no long lines.
Description: 2v2 defending, Game starts with blue team. 2 Blue attackers and first Yellow defender is live when the ball is put into play, then the second trailing yellow defender can run and get back when the first blue player touches the ball. Looking for first defender to slow the attack and the second defender to track back and cover for the first defender. Encourage the blue team to win the ball back quickly if they lose it.
Coaching Points:
1) Appropriate timing
2) Tackle ( ques when to: bad touch by attacker, close to sideline, attacker head down, back is turned)
3) Appropraite body position in approach
4) Pressure on ball, cover in behind
Progression: Adjust the size of the grid. Add 2 trailing defenders.

Set Up: 40x30grid, 2 even teams. coach has balls and starts each game.
Description: 2v2 Start with what ever side Coach calls out (blue or yellow) start with the ball, sends in 2 attacker and the other side sends 2 defenders. play until it leaves the grid. keep score. If the defenders win the ball they can score in opposite goal.

Progression: 2 ways you can call numbers 1st number is red and second is green, or play 2v2 alternating lines you pass to.

coach will play in ball to the attackers green. its 4v4 to beat the reds accross their end line. Working on the movement of the back line who is pressuring who is not. 1st defender=pressure 2nd defender=cover, 3rd defender=balance.

Blue Team is the 9,10,8,7, and 11
Descritpion: Ball always starts with yellow support player, Blue team tries to press the ball as quickly as possible to win the ball back (closer to the goal they would be attacking) Imediate pressure pushing one way from the number 9. Closing of passing lanes and space out of the 10,8,11,and 7 depending on which way number 9 pushes play. Offsides apply.
Scoring: Blue
3pts for winning ball in attacking third and scoring
2 pts for winning ball in middle third and scoring
1 pt for winning ball in defensive third and scoring
Yellow team:
2 points if they can posses ball across opponents end line.
Coaching Points:
Encourage high pressing- to win ball in a higher third closer to the goal your attacking.
1st focus- number 9 putting pressure on the ball pushing play one way cutting off passing lane.
2nd focus- number 11 and 7 closing space to intercept passes or win ball. number 8 and 10 cutting of passing lanes and stop the attacking teams ability to switch the ball.
3rd focus- recovery runs to balance defensively.

Set Up: 40L30Wy 2 big goals (or cone goals), 4v4+GK
Description: 4v4+GK game to 2 big goals. Team not in possession individually have to be behind mid line before they can defend the person with the ball, otherwise a regular game. (once behind midline they can defend in attacking half) For Advanced groups make the whole team get behind midline and organize before they can defend. Compact behind the ball make the field small.
Coaching Points:
1) Appropriate timing

Progression:
1. every player on defending team needs to be behind mid line for team to defend.
