6v3 - Three Zone Transition
Organization:
30x18 - Three areas of 10x18
Three teams of 6 players
Coach serves the balls to keep the exercise move quickly
Instructions:
Teams must complete three passes in their possession zone before attempting to play through, around or over the middle defensive zone. The three-pass rule is to allow time for the team transitioning into defends to get pressure on the ball.
The team in the opposite possession area must provide support for all three options - wide players have the ability to drop into parking zones positioned either side of the central zone
Teams score for every successful action forward
If the ball is lost the team must quickly transition to the middle to defend
Coaching Points:
Shape to have options forward, backwards and sideways - small triangles
Quick combinations to draw the defender to the ball
How to create gaps to play through - playing wide - backwards and then through
Quick decision-making
Technical application - driven, lofted or firm passes to wide player
Wide Player - ability to catch the ball and pass forward
Progressions:
Defenders in the middle zone can defend the players in the parking areas
Allow teams to decide how many players they send into press and how many they keep back to screen passes
