Session objectives : can the defending duo defend outnumbered to cancel out a counter

Aim: reds will play with 3 attacking trying to score on the goal. The blues must defend as a unit to prevent oppostion scoring. If they win the ball the transition will happen where they will play the ball to the target player.

Primary player: 5,6 - will make early desions to commit the strikers. defend together make sure distances are good . and antistipate the first touch from the player in possession.

Secondary player 4- showing for th eball on the transition.

progression:

set up 40x60yards

Session aim: can the defedning team defend out numbered and try to regain the ball to transition forward.

Instructions: blues look to progress the ball through the thirds to make a 4 v3 in the final third. Reds arent allowed to progress until they haave regained the ball.

I want to look at teh shape and organsition of the defending team out numbered and see how they deal with the sitaution.

coaching the reds: they will look at coping againest an overload. making sure there distances are right to prevent the opostion progressing

They must make early decisions to commit the attackers

Managing the blues: can they look at getting in the final third quickly and effectivtly. Progressing the build up of players in each box.

Primary player: 5-6

Picture 1- if the striker recieves the ball 5 and 6 need to keep th edistances right to prevent the ball going through the middle

Picture 2 ball goes wide can CBs show away from the goal can the secondary players cover
