3 v 1 + 3 rondo four zone game (15 mins)

Method:3 v 1 + 3 rondo four zone game

Coaching Points:

Set up 20 x 20 grid with 5 x 5 box centrally (3 yellows inside the box).
3 reds start in one zone, one blue goes into other three zones.
1 yellow will enter red zone, Reds aim to create 5 passes and transition the ball to any blue in their zone.
Once pass is played to blue player, all blues must enter that zone and reds must take up previous blues positions, with one red in each zone.
If yellows win the ball they replace the team.

Progression

Create 4 v 2 ( 1 blue to drop in and one yellow to join grid).
Add mini goals on a 3 v 1. If yellow win the ball they can try to score.

Passing combination with finishing (10 mins)

Method: Passing combination with finishing

Coaching Points:

Set up 2 grids, 20 x 25 with 2 goals.
A pass to B, B pass back to A, A plays long pass to C, C plays short pass to B and runs forward to shoot after B passes to D.
D then follows in on C's shot if the GK saves the shot.
Each player rotate positions after each play.
Have both grids playing, looking for good weight of pass, timing of the run and finishing technique.

Breakout possession using wide play (20 mins)

Method: Breakout possession using wide play

Coaching Points:

Set up grid playing centrally with 2 sets of mini goals for opposition team.
Create 6 v 6 in main grid, Whites attacking with Blues defending.
2 white wingers remain high with a ST in the box being marked by 1 blue defender.
If whites get 5 passes they transition play through the wide areas with opposite winger attacking the box.
2 blues to screen midfield area and prevent passes directly through to the ST. If blues win the ball they transition to score in mini goals.
Communication, movement, switching of play and finishing is the aim.

Progression:

1 blue midfielder can drop into the box to aide the defender, with 1 white midfielder joining the play.
Rotate players and sides.
