1v1 warm up (15 mins)

Organization:

- two goals on each side of the field, one for each team

- two teams of 3-5 players

- have an endzone near the goals

- have two fields for more repetition

Instructions:

- looking to take players on 1v1 into the goal across from their starting location

- once the player shoots or the ball goes out of bounds, quickly transition into defense

- the player dribbling the ball can attack once ball is out and does not have to wait for the defensive player to set up

Coaching Points/Questions:

- when do I accelerate? what sort of touches allows me to travel more distance?

- what moves can you do to evade the defender?

Regressions/Progressions:

- R : allowed to score on any goal

- P : allowed to score on any goal; 2 pts for far goal, 1 pt for near goal

- P : have square on opposite end of goal where defenders can either dribble in or pass to a teammate for 5 points

2v1 main activity (25 mins)

Organization:

- Have two small sided fields side by side with two goals on each end of the field

- An endzone marked off by cones

- Two teams; Attacking team having 4 players and Defensive team having 2 players (can vary with # of players)

Instructions:

- Offensive team (2) vs Defensive (1) going to goal through a 1v1 situation or utilizing second player in open space

- Offensive team must be inside endzone in order to score; can score in any goal

- Defensive player looking to dribble ball out to end possession

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Decision Making!!

- Should I take player 1v1? Can i utilize the open player in space? What dictates my decision?

- Speed of play; high tempo

Regressions/Progressions:

- R : Defender must wait for first touch of offensive team to attack

- P : Add backsided pressure; when offensive team passes halfway mark, allow second defender to come in to create a 2v2

Small sided game (20 mins)

SSG (30 min)

Instructions: Allow both teams to play a small sided game with similar formations.

Allow free play for 5-10 minutes.

Condition: for 5-10 minutes.

If the team out of possession, wins the ball in the final third and scores, it is worth 2 goals!

Last 5 minutes: Scenario is extra time, scores are level, can someone get a winner?

Use the lines as offside lines for game realism. 6v6 or do 7v6 if there's an extra player, 7v6+1, 7v7 or 6v6+1. If more players, adapt in a similar fashion.
