Main Activity (20 mins)

Organization:

  • 3v3+2
  • Channels Cone-Zoned Red Box & Yellow Box

Instructions:

  • Red starts with ball, in their channel (red box), they try to complete 3 passes.
  • Once three passes are complete, they cross the ball into the red & black player on their team attacking the box. 
  • Red & Black player try to score on the big goal off of the cross.
  • One blue player from opposite box may play goalie.
  • If Blue steals the ball, they play the ball across to the yellow box, and Blue tries to complete 3 passes.
  • If the ball goes out of bounds off of red, Blue starts with the ball in their yellow box. 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • What kind of a cross do we want to deliver?
  • On a transition: what is the advantage to switching the field?
  • What is the advantage to switching the field quickly?

Cond. Game (20 mins)

Organization:

  • 4v3+1
  • Channels cone-zoned @ Goalie Box to Sideline
  • Three Small Goals 5yds short of half field

Instructions:

  • Red must get the ball into one of the channels.
  • Once the ball has entered a channel, they can either score in the goal for 2 points, or, get into the opposite channel for 1 point.
  • Blue scores by getting the ball into any of the three small-goals.
  • Black is Neutral

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • What is the advantage to using the channel? 
  • What is the advantage to switching the field?
  • What is the advantage to switching the field quickly?

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P: Add a goalkeeper, & Red has option to score on large goal for one point.
