Warm Up (5 mins)

Organizational / Instructions: Required cones, Session split evenly. Start with 50% speed Jog into 75%. Give players a ball to dribble with around cone and pass to player in line at the to. Finish with dynamic stretching ( Open and Close gates, Lunges). 5-7 Minutes Maximum.

 

Coaching Points: Light Footed, Do not overdo it, its's a pulse raiser not a race.

 

Progressions / Adaptations: Give the players a ball to dribble with or increase the intensity of pulse raiser.

Technical (10 mins)

Organizational / Instructions: 

- 2 goalkeepers 

- Evenly split teams 

- 2 Wingers, a center mid and feeder (who will become active defender)

- Feeder plays a bounce pass with center mid, Center mid then releases through ball into wide area for winger to chase.

- Once feeder plays pass center mid will make run to the back post and winger will be positioned ready for cut back.

- Winger SHOULD NOT PLAY DEEP CROSS they should reach byline before crossing ball.

- Once winger reaches byline the feeder becomes an active defender. 

- rotate clockwise after each set. 

 

Coaching Points: 

- Movement is key winger should be around second 6 yard box area to be available for cut back

- Center mid should time run and aim for for back post 

- The pass from feeder should be firm and challenge winger to chase after 

- Cross can be varied as long as it is not deep.

- Shot should always aim for target.

 

 

Progressions / Adaptations: add in fullbacks on wings for added pressure, 2 touches.

Game Related practice (20 mins)

Organizational / Instructions

- 3 defenders 

- goalkeeper

- center mid

-2 wide players 

-Wide player on attacking team comes short and plays bounce pass with center mid 

- wide player then becomes active as does fullback who will try to win possession and score into the mini goal however defending team must play three passes before they can score.

- If wide player beats opponent they play a suitable cross and if the striker or opposite winger scores they get a point.

 

 

Coaching Points

- Winger comes short 

- Striker attacks back post

- Driven,lobbed or whipped cross

- Wingers beat opponent will skill e.g. step over 

- timed tackling on opponent with locked ankles 

- pass from center mid should be into the wingers path 

 

Progressions / Adaptations

- limit touches 

- add in extra center back

conditioned game (10 mins)

Organizational / Instructions: - 6 v 6

- can only score from crosses 

 

Coaching Points: - build out from back do not rush

- utilize width

- firm passes

- logical crosses

 

Progressions / Adaptations: 3 touches, add in floater players.
