A session that works on ABC's & SAQ's.
Lots of 1v1's.
Have little to no input in the SSG. Real Free play. Only step in if a child needs assistance.
Go through coaching points from the session before the end game. Encourage them, lots of praise for first 10 minutes of end game, before finishing with real free play.

Game 1
Split in to 2 groups. The aim of the game is to dodge past to get through the gates. With younger players allow a longer time without the ball to work on ABC's.
Add a football and continue the game. If the Defender wins the ball can they dribble to the line.
Attack for 1 game, Defend for 1 game, Get back in.
Coaching Points: Before adding the footballs ask how we get past the defender. Look for answers 'dodge' or 'change direction'. Ask how we do that? 'Bend knees'.

Game 2
Bring the 2 groups back together to have 2 teams. The first player from each team run in to the square, feed a ball in (or have a player feeding). Players need to react to get to the ball. The first player to the ball attempts to dribble through a gate. The second player defends, if the win the ball can they dribble back to the line?
Progression: Have simple tasks they have to do, 5 knee tucks, 5 star jumps, 5 press ups etc.
Coaching Points: Ask how does the attacker put defender off balance? 'Changing direction'
If you see players taking a player on then checking back, ask how many times do we need to take someone on? 'Once'.
Encourage attackers to put defender off balance then get away fast.
When defender is close do we use big touches or small? 'small'.
When we have space small touches or big? 'big'.

Game 3
Same as the previous game but add an extra player from each team to create a 2v2. Players can pass forward/backwards, dribble through the gates. The players first to the ball are attacking at the goal, the team second to the ball are defending.
Coaching Points: When your teammate receives the ball, the attacker should do what? 'Get away from the defender in to space to receive the pass.
What body shape should the receiver have? 'Sideways on, being able to see the ball and the goal'.

Game 4
Finish with a big game.
