Warm up (20 mins)

Organization: Same setup as Warm-up. 1 team in middle. 2 teams on perimeter with ball.

Instructions: Outside player passes in to checking inside player. Receive ball and play back. Each team gets 30 seconds of work before next progression.

Coaching Points: 1. Weight of pass. 2. Inside of foot passing technique 3. Receiving posture. 4. Positive first touch. 5. Receive back foot/front foot 6. Angle of run to receive. 7. Shape of body when receiving.

Progressions: 1. Double pass (1-2 pass). 2. Receive and find other player on outside who is without ball (will need to eliminate 2 balls from exercise for this). 3. Receive and choose to play double pass or find other player without ball.

Passing patterns (30 mins)

Organization: as shown

Instructions: ball starts where there are two players. Outside player plays to inside player, inside gives to outside and the pattern goes in-out-in-out. Always follow your pass immediately so we have an inside player ready to receive.

Coaching Points:

1. Open body shape to receive

2. Back foot to receive if opening up to play next option

3. Weight of pass to the back foot.

4. Direction and weight of first touch to set up for next action

Progressions:

P1. 2 touch only.

P1. Reverse direction

P2. Give and go. Outside then will play to other outside.

P2. 1 touch only.

Regressions:

Add players to outside lines.

Unlimited touches.

Semi-opposed into conditioned game (40 mins)

Organization: 12 cones. 3 even teams.

Instructions: 2 balls per team. Pass ball between players on same team in sequence 1-4. Players are to pass ball on ground and use the inside of the foot technique.

Coaching Points: 1. Inside of foot technique. 2. Head up after receiving. 3. Make visual and or verbal

agreement before pass made. 4. Receive inside of foot and take touch in positive direction toward space.

Progressions: 1. Players pass in sequence within own team. 2. Only 1 ball per team now. Players always receive from one color and pass to other color. Example: Red passes to Blue --> Yellow --> Red --> etc... 3. Add extra ball if teams able to do pattern with ease.

The game (70 mins)

Organization: 45x60 field. 2 GK or can play to pug goals with no GK. 6 v 6 or 5 v 5 depending on numbers. 14 cones. Balls at center field on sideline with coach. Add neutral player if uneven numbers.

Instructions: Throw ins, goal kick, and corner kicks on out of bounds. Have players keep track of goals scored.

Coaching Points: Let them play. Positive feedback. Few points reinforcing good habits in the flow.
