Compass Game - 2 grids (30 mins)

Open session w 5v2 keep away rondos, person to your right goes in if mistake is made, split keeps defenders in an extra round

One grid is 4v4, one 3v3

4x4' games

- Attempt to move the ball target to target for 1 point

- After playing to target, switch with target

- Open body shape to receive and turn

- Targets can play right to target

Coaching points:

- Open body shape to play both ways

- First touch to continue switch

- Angles to help switch (no flat switches)

- Movement off the ball to offer support to switch

Progressions:

- Middle players are limited to three touches or less

- All players can help defend the middle switch (2v4 middle)

6v6+1 (60 mins)

6v6+1 (or 2 depending on numbers) IF you have all 15, play 7v7+1

4-2-1 formation, one group as front group, one as back group

Instructions:

- Players play 6v6 +1

- Normal goal is worth 1

- If you are able to play in all three zones before scoring, worth 2.

- If a direct switch is played from Zone A to C, goal is worth 3 (Progression)

- Goals must be scored in attacking half

- Ball restarts in defensive zone when it goes into touch

Play 5x5 minute games 1 minute rest (coach there)

Total time 30 mins

Coaching points:

- Play to one side with the intent to switch to the other Principle

- Attract pressure with possession (to break a line) Principle

- Triggers and Cues:

* Numbers down on a side

* Space on far side/open player

* Not able to go forward on strong side

- Technical ability to hit a low, driven pass over distance (Progression)

- Using link players (playing backwards to go forward using back line) or (using CM to switch the play quickly from within a pocket of space) COMPLETE THE SWITCH


Progression:

- Add big goals, same scoring rules

- One team starts up 1-0, can they win the game? (7-10')
