Defenders must keep possession and be patient, but, when a MF creates space, the ball must be played quickly and accurately. If the pass isn't on - can the defenders recycle the ball through the GK and look to play out via the other side of the pitch?
No.6 & 8 to play in front of the CB's. Can the ball reach No.8 who plays it into MF if possible?
Can the No.6 or No.8 or CB's accompany the pass with an instruction? 'Turn' or 'Man on'
Can the MF player receive the ball on his front foot?
Can the MF check their shoulder in order to be aware:

Progression 1
Defender can enter midfield zone upon completion of a successful pass to a midfielder, or by dribbling into the midfield zone, thus creating an overload in midfield.

Progression 2
Any player in the Midfield zone (to include a defender if applicable) may enter the attacking zone by completing a successful pass to the attacker, or by dribbling the ball into the attacking zone.
Once overload has been achieved in midfield area, can the ball be passed quickly to the No.9 CF, to lay the ball off for midfielder entering the attacking zone.

Defensive shape when defending - CB's and No.6 narrow & compact - defenders to shuffle across when the ball is in a wide position; defenders try to remain compact i.e less than 10 yards apart from each other;
Encourage players to retain possession by returning ball, for instance to a defender, if no other options are available, and playing ball to the other side of the pitch via goalkeeper.
