Grade 12 Warm-Up (10 mins)

THE SESSION: U12 Warm Up

 

Set up:

- 3 lines of cones spaced 10 metres apart

- Split players into even groups (including GK's)

- The first player of each group moves forward

- The next player in line goes once first player reaches middle cone

- 2 reps of each Players will perform the following exercises:

- Jog through up and back

- Open gate (10m) into close gate (10m)

- Side step (10m) then swap direction halfway

- Carioca (10m) then swap direction halfway

- Alternating 1 leg skip (20m)

- Jog into diaganol shuffle at half way

- Quick sharp small steps forward then back to line and then forward 75% run to end

- Jog forward (10m) then sprint at halfway (10m)

- Stationary start 20m sprint

**U12 lunges, hamstring raises and squats not required**

 

Find partner and space:

- Arm on shoulder and swing leg across switch leg after 20 seconds

- Arm on shoulder and perform hamstring kicks

 

Players should now complete any other relevant stretches

- advise them on these to ensure appropriate technique.

Try to make it a dynamic stretch

Possession Warm Up (15 mins)

THE SESSION: 5v5+5

 

Set-up:

- Use 6 x 6 per defender for grid size

- 3 x 2.5min games with 2 min rest

- use GK's on outside

- 2 x teams of 5 inside square with a neutral player and 4 players on the outside

- Teams score points by completing 5 passes without ball being intercepted

 

Key Messages:

- Head up

- Open body to receive

- Style pass

- Quality of pass

- Arm up

- Check shoulder

- Break line with movement or pass

- Movement to receive

 

Progressions:

- Limit touches to 2/3 max

Movement Patterns (35 mins)

The Session: Movement Patterns

Setup:

No.3 passes to No.10 who sets No.8, No.8 runs with the ball across pitch and passes to No.2. No.2 receives, runs with the ball at mannequin and passes into the space for striker who meets the ball and shoots.

Key messages:

Ball control, keep ball out of feet, prepapre last touch for a pass, head up, fast, use laces, both feet.

Work both sides.

Couter Attacking Game - Playing through each third (40 mins)

The Session: Slice of the game

 

Set up:

- Pitch is divided into thirds

- Defending players are locked into their own area (dependant on numbers a neutral player may be used in middle third)

- Blue team starts with ball and looks to score at opposite end

- 1 attacking player may move in to the end zones that the ball is in to create overload

- Ball can enter middle third by passing or dribbling

- If no neutral player then a second blue player may enter the middle third to create an overload

- Once the ball has entered the attcking third by either a pass or by dribbling in to the end zone we now create a 3v2 and look to score as quickly as possible

- When play breaks down by red intercepting or a goal is scored players return to there zones and then red starts with the ball

- Break the line by passing or movement

- Quick ball movement

- Style pass

- Open body to receive

- 3 Checks

- Movement to receive

 

Progressions:

- Limit number of touches 2/3 max

- Time Limit to score

- Attack and counter attack before defence is set (if defending team wins ball allow to counter attack immediately)

- Extra point for scoring on counter attack

- Rewards and punishments

THE SESSION: Set Pieces Kick Off

 

Set-Up:

As Shown

 

Look to load one side, when ball is played back to one of the two centre backs players on the loaded side are making forward runs to gain possession or press the opposition if they win the ball

 

Centre back is looking to play a lofted pass over the opposition looking to force them back in to their defensive third.

 

Pass to centre back should be weighted correctly so as to allow the centre back to be able to play lofted pass first time.
