'rotating rondo'

2 touch 5v2 rondo game in a 15x20 grid.

red players on the outside can pass freely along and accross the pitch but they can only move along the lines to make angles for passing and receiving the ball. the red player in the middle is free to move anywhere INSIDE the pitch however the aim is to receive the ball inbetween the pressing teams defensive lines.

red players on the outside can pass the ball to other red players on the outside as much as they want or need too, however they can only score by passing the ball to the red player in the middle who then has 2 touches to get the ball to a different red player. once that cycle is complete it is worth 1 point to the outide team. Once the red player in the middle has passed the ball to a different outside player they must then rotate with the player who gave the the ball prior to their scoring pass.

the pressing team score by intercepting the ball and dribbling out of the pitch. this encourages players to react quickly to loosing the ball.

the ball does NOT have to stay on the floor however it is advisable as the middle player is outnumbered with limited touches

this practice is to simulate a midfield 4-8 or 10 moving to receive the ball between lines (playing through) passing and then interchanging or rotating with each other.

Progression

Rules remain the same however there are now 2 red players in the middle and they must combine before passing the ball to an outside player and roating with the player who passed them the ball prior to their scoring pass.

6v4 playing through practice simulating 1-4-3-3 vs 1-4-4-2

yellows press the reds from goal kicks trying not to let them play out. if the yellow team win the ball they have 10 seconds to shoot or score, if they score in the 10 seconds the goal is worth 2 points. This will limit the time reds are not in posession and allow more reps playing out and through.

goal kicks insted of throw ins and corners. goal kicks can't go long into the oppositions defensive 3rd

both teamsmust keep 2 players in their defensive 3rd at all times. this will allow both teams the chance to create the overload required to play through the middle or just play out all together.

both teams are allowed 1 midfielder to drop back into their defensive 3rd to defend or receive the ball from goal kicks, the other midfielders are locked in

only 2 opposition players are allowed to press the defensive 3rds from goal kicks

yellow wide players are neutral and can go into all 3rds to receive the ball but not press!

they are limited to 3 touches. neutral players can only score in an attacking 3rd and if the pass prior to them scoring is deemed intentional and came from a player attacking that goal and NOT the other neutral player.
