In today's session we will work on the players first touch to penetrate space. We will work on this by tuning their availability to receive the ball with their back foot and opening up their hips to move the ball forward. A player's ability to use their first touch in order to penetrate is key to moving the ball forward as we look to pass and move forward as a unit. It is crucial for the player in possession to have a quality technique on how to control the ball and most importantly how to use their first touch to penetrate space. Having these attacking qualities from all players on the field will make the team into an effective attacking unit.

Organization
20x30 grid split into two 15x20 channels
6-8 players per grid
cones set up in diamond shape as shown
balls with the end players in both grid
Instructions
Part 1
1.player from both ends of the grid will pass to one direction to the players in the middle cones then follow their pass to the middle cones
2. the players in the middle cones must open up on their back foot to take their first touch and dribble to the opposite line
3. after a set amount of reps have the players now pass the
opposite direction working on their other foot.

see who can open up and race to the opposite side quicker ,the team who
completes the rotation first wins an MVP Point.
Coaching Points
Receiving -On Ground (Inside)opening up ,Receive with furthest foot from the ball open hips as ball travels hop onto standing foot on
contact to prepare for next action ,Receive with the toe pointed up and ankle locked
Passing- Push Pass
-Non-kicking foot placed on the side of the ball pointing at the target
-Head up observe target-Working on inside-push pass: use inside surface of kicking foot, heel down, toe up (V shape)
-Strike through the middle of the ball
-Follow through the pass to target with passing foot-Weight and accuracy of Pass
-receive on back foot
-break the line quickly
-if defender applies pressure use a move to beat them
-head up for end product
-speed of play
Progressions
-add in a defender for both sides that starts on the middle cone as shown
-when the first pass is played the receiver must go 1v1 to goal with the defender to score
-if the defender steals they will transitions back through the line to win the point.
-after a set amount of time change the defenders in the middle.
-after a few rounds change the position of the goals so the players now go the opposite direction using their other foot.

Instructions
1. play will start with one team playing the ball into their middle
player to combine
2. as soon as the pass is made the player from the opposite teams
middle cone will defend against them
3.the attacking team will play 2v1 to goal
4. f the defender steals they can transition to oppose goal
5. after their is a goal or play breaks down the other team will now attack playing the ball into their middle player to start.
6. players will rotate from middle to end cones after a few rounds.

-goal keepers will playin goal as regular keepers using the tools from the session the ycan transition with the defensive team
-as a progression have the keepers distribute the balls the the attackers

Exercise 1
1. Player with ball will start rotation by passing the ball clockwise then follow their pass
2. Receiving player will check away from cone and take a touch into space then follow their pass
3. Make it into a competition first team to connect 20 passes wins 1 MVP each
4. Make the passing pattern counter clockwise
Exercise 2:
1. Player with the ball will dribble halfway then play a wall pass/1-2 with next receiving player
2. receiving player will continue the same action with the next player
3. Make it into a competition first team to connect 10 passing combinations passes wins 1 MVP each
