Warm Up (15 mins)

Set up

Area 20x20 yard grid with lines of cones seperated every 5yards.

Rules and Conditions

Players go through PEP routine including Motor Movement, Dynamic Stretching, Strength, plyometric and sprint (with changes of direction) phases. Focus on techniques and landing mechanics. Use resistance bands for strength development and Post Activation Potentiation.

Heading Game (20 mins)

Set Up

Groups of three with a ball.

Rules and Conditions

various heading activities to develop comfort with heading the ball. Introduce players to aerial challenge technique.

Progression

Play heading game with goals.

Coaching Points

Hair line for contact.

Timing (too early will meet top of the head, too late could meet face or forehead).

Use legs to add some power.

neck muscles to add power.

Use arm as a buffer

Hip check on lower back of opponent

Conitioned Game (25 mins)

Set Up

60x65. Main goal, with 3 goals spread along half-way life.

Rules and Conditions

Play 7v7+Gk. Defensive team start with the ball. and try to score in goal on half way line. Once attempt has been made on a goal, coach to play into attacking team for attacking team to try and counter attack defensive team.

Time

2 x 12 minutes games, with 2 minute rest.
