Arsenal Dribbling (Stage 1) (15 mins)

Instructions/Objectives: 

1-2 minutes per skill (right and left)

Players simultaneously attack center cone, execute a left footed skill on 1st cone, right footed skill on 2nd and rotate to end of opposite line.  Use various skills (feint, rolls, scissors, roll step-overs, L's, V's, double pull back, full spin (outside/inside), Mathew, Elastico, Maradona)

Coaching Points: 

1. Dribbling (laces, speed, control)

2. Timing of the skill (not to early or late) 

3. Skill execution (speed, technique, details) 

4. Acceleration away (touch away)

5. Body movement (balance, positioning, disguises)

1v1 Sweat Box (Stage 2) (20 mins)

Instructions/Objectives: 4 lines of 2-3 players

1v1, red attacks black in the box as shown, player must cross opposite end line with ball under control to score 1 pt.  If defenders gain possession roles are reversed with attackers becoming defenders. 

Progressions: 

Competition - 1st team to 10 pts wins

Condition - player must execute skill before reaching end line

Coaching Points: 

1. Attack defender with speed & control 

2. Attacking player vs Accelerating into space

3. Changing direction using skill (unbalance defenders, creating space)

4. Creativity (encourage players to use various skill to beat defenders)

5. Avoid negative body position (don't turn your back, trigger for defenders to pressure)

Wolves 2v1 Sweat Box (Stage 3) (20 mins)

Instructions/Objectives: 2 lines of 2+ players, 2v1 (30 yds x 15 yds)

Attackers play 2v1, attempting to get pasted 1st & 2nd and cross 2nd defenders end line for 1pt. Defenders must stay in their girds. If either defender successfully gains possession both join-in to counter to opponent's end line and roles are reversed with attackers becoming defenders.

Progressions: 

Add 2nd defender to 2nd grid to create 2v2 

add 2nd defender to both grids to create 2v2 in both girds 

Coaching Points:

1. Recognize when to dribble vs pass (defensive pressure, attack space, commit defenders)

2. Passing into feet or space (timing, accuracy, weight, type)

3. Disguise passes & feints to unbalance defenders

4.  1-2's & Overlaps to get behind and beat defenders

Wolves 3v3+GK (Stage 4) (25 mins)

Instructions/Objectives: 3 lines of 2+ players, 3v3+GK (30 yds x 15 yds)

Play begins with single defender feeding ball into 3 attacking players. After 1st touch by attackers, 2 recovering defenders chase back to defend. If defenders gain possession or Gk saves, defending team counters to shaded area, if achieved roles are reversed with attackers becoming defenders.

Progressions: 3v2 with 1 recovering defender, 3v3 

Coaching Points: 

1. Create scoring opportunity in final third with attacking 3 (11, 9, 7 or 11, 10, 7)

2. Quick penetration & combination (pass vs dribble)  

3. Changing point of attack (finding open space or player to penetrate goal) 

4.  Recognizing defensive positioning and pressure (defenders out of place, weak side)
