Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Skill - 1V1 DEFEND

Skill Intro (25 mins)

⚽Practice Organization

1v1 defending with ball without ball.

Grid size 14x12.

-Split the group into 6 teams of 3s

-2 Teams per grid (Total 3 grids)

-BLUE are defenders and WHITES are attackers

-The game will start without ball first.

-ON the coach signal first white attacker and first blue defender will start

-Attacker will score 1 point if he will be able to enter red gate and he can score 1 more point if he is able to enter orange gate.

-Defender will earn 3 points if he is able to tag or touch the attacker before the attacker reaches the red gate . Defender will score 2 points if he is able to touch the attacker after attacker crosses red gate.

-If defender fails to tag the attacker he wiil be encouraged for the next chance now if he shows the Determination to stop the attacker this time he will be given double points

-Change the sides after 2:30 secs and now white will defend.

-5 minute game

(IF a Defender fails to stop the attacker , he will be encouraged for the next time and now he shows his determination and hard work to tackle or win the ball he will be given double points)

Progression:

P1:

Now players will start with ball and try to score in the goals.(4 rounds 4minutes)

Attacker point system:

-1point if you enter red gate with ball and 1 more point if you able to score in orange goal.(Total two points)remeber if he scores from anywhere inside the grid he will be given 1 point.

Defenders point system:

-BLUE defender will earn 3 points if he is able to win the ball and score before the attacker crosses red gate.

-If Defender is able to move the attacker towards his left and don't let him enter the red gate and able to block the shot he will get 2 points and in same situation if defender is able to win and score as well then he will get 3 points.

-To every block thr will be 1 point rewarded to defender

-Remember in 2 rounds gate will be on the right side of defender and in next two rounds the agte will be on the left side of the defender so that they are able to force attacker away from goal from both sides .

-Keep changing roles after 4 minutes .

provide adequate rest if needed.

1.(iF a Defender fails to stop the attacker , he will be encouraged for the next time and now he shows his determination and hard work to tackle or win the ball he will be given double points)

2.(Players will be encoraged to put more effort by giving them targets IS after every round that they have to win the ball or tackle more than last round for e.g. a player does 3 tackles now if he tackles more than 3 times he will be given 5 bonus points)

-Can you close down the defender quickly?

-Can you show them the side where you want him to go? (what shoulde be your angle of approach)

-Can you Keep the eyes on the ball?

-Can you go low in a good stance?

-Is your distance from the defender good or it can be better ?

-Can you show more Determination to win the ball and score points for your team?
