Wave Game (25 mins)

Focus + Session design

4 X 3 MINUTE BLOCKS 2 MINUTES REST BETWEEN EACH BLOCK

  • Half pitch but will position the mannequins in line with the width of the 18. Don't want to cone the width of the 18 and restrict attacking play. Important players can enjoy attacking play tonight and score plenty of goals.
  • 4 teams of 3 plus two attacking floaters.
  • Change floaters after every block as they are getting high reps.
  • To start the attack team in possession reds in this example must play into one of the wide floaters who then transition quickly into attacking half and play 4vs3. If reds score they would start another attack with the other floater and attack the greens. If blues were to win the ball, they will look to play forward quickly into wide floater and attack greens.
  • Maintain good habits throughout - OFFSIDES.

Coaching detail

  • Fast attacks
  • under lap/overlap - when? triggers.
  • Transitions
  • let the play flow, coach what you see after each block.
