Description

Coaching Points:

1.) Players need to know which run they are performing as the corner kick is being taken (near post, pk spot and far post)

2.) The serving player aims for one of three zones to cross the ball into (near post, pk spot or far post)

3.) If the corner can be taken quickly by playing the close option, than play quickly.

The above corner kick is the most basic set-up for a corner.

Player #1 is the near post runner

Player #2 is the PK spot run

Player #3 is the far post (garbage) run

Player #4 is available for a short pass

Remember that when a player crosses the ball, they should be crossing the ball into three specific locations, not towards a specific player. These three zones that a player is looking to serve the ball into are:

1.) Near Post

2.) PK spot

3.) Far post

So, hopefully when you work on corner kicks, you can teach your players about these three very important runs for a corner kick.
