Introduction

Organization:

  • 30x20 yard area, all players with ball.

  • Make sure to have differently sized gates, some big, some small, to cater to the different skill levels of players

  • Set up gates around the whole area, where players can dribble through.

Instructions:

  • Players are dribbling inside of the area. They are given specific moves to do with the ball.
  • Drag back
  • U-Turn
  • Cruyff turn

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Head up to see space and look over the shoulder to see where they are turning.

  •  Look to turn into space.

  •  The technique of all three turns.

Main Activity

Organization:

  • 20x20 grid
  • 2 goals and a middle line

Instructions:

  • Blue player passes to red. Red runs forward and can't only score after passing the middle line
  • If the defenders recover the ball can score by running to blue gates

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Positive first touch forward and cover distance quickly
  • Observe the position of the defender to decide whether to turn or run forward
  • Turn away using the correct foot
