Set The Field Up Into Thirds
20x15 at largest dimenstions
Without Ball To Begin
Instructions:
Option 1:
If your players are more developmental, begin with the first option.
Defender is stuck between two middle cones and can only move horizontally between those two cones. (Helpful Hint: Refer to 'Crab Walk' so they understand they are stuck to a horizontal movement). Their objective is to pull a pinnie from one of their teammates to swap roles and become an attacker.
Attacking Player is working on identifying space and feint/juke movement. They all have a Pinne tucked into their shorts at the hip. They try to get passed the defender, if they are successful they are to sprint and touch the PUGG net. (The sprint after is essential to their later development of accelerating out of a skill move.)
If the Defender can pull the pinnie out, they swap roles with the Attacker they just beat.
Progression: No Pinnie. Tag their teammates.
Option 2:
This is the move advanced option, or you can run both options and slanty-line the challenges for our larger groups.
Players are split between two sides.
One side is designated Attackers and the other Defenders.
Attackers are trying to race into one of the coned gates for 1 pt.
Defenders are trying to 'get out of defense' by tagging an Attacker before they get through the gate.
If the Attacker gets through, he gets to remain on offense.
If the Defender tags the Attacker, they swap roles.
Coaching Points:
- How to Approach The Defender
- How To Mechanically Preform A Feint
- Identification of Space
- Speed and Acceleration
- How Can I 'Trick' The Defender With My Body Movement?

Organization:
Two Fields
PUGG Nets As Shown
Instructions:
Option 1:
Defender is stuck between two middle cones and can only move horizontally between those two cones UNTIL attacker beats them.
Defenders objective is to steal the ball from the Attacker AND THEN play it to the next person in line (This is essential for the foundational skills of playing in transitin. I won the ball now lets distribute it up the line).
If the defender effectively transitions, they swap roles.
Regression: Defender can dribble over the line.
ption 2:
This is the move advanced option, or you can run both options and slanty-line the challenges for our larger groups.
Players are split between two sides.
One side is designated Attackers and the other Defenders.
Attackers are trying to score in either goal (Helpful Hint: Make One Goal More PTS then the other; this incentivizes the attackers to be more creative or tricky.)
Defenders are trying to 'get out of defense' by winning the ball from the Attacker and Pass or Dribble to the next person in line.
Successful Transitons = Swapped Roles
Regression: Swap Roles Every Time
Coaching Points/Questions:
- Touch Size Approaching Defender
- Speed of Approach to Defender
- Identification of Space
