OBJECTIVE: Attacking transition from small to big in the attack

COACHING POINTS:

  • Making Play Predictable
  • Narrow & Compact - Cut Split Pass
  • When you win the ball, can you play a forward pass right away, to play forward
  • Quick cominations to get out of pressure
  • Move as a team and create support around the ball with your front 3.

Roles:

6/8/10- Win and keep possession

10 - Get high connected with 9

8/6-Support ball for simple passes

2/3-create quick width

7/11-recognize invert, keep width and combine with 9, make runs behind 1) run alongside the line and deviate in 2) back pedal away and time your run behind.

9-look to link up and find the underneith, interchange and combine with the 7/11

Dynamic (15 mins)

Dynamic warm-up with a ball. Players dribble around and on the coaches command perform a skill (Toe taps, boxes, L-Turns, V- Turns, Scisscors, step overs, etc)

They perform this for 2 Minutes, and then dynamic stretch for 1 minute. Captains lead and pick which stretch to be performed in what order.


15 Minutes total (7.5 Dribbling, 7.5 stretching)

1v1 Transitions (15 mins)

Players are partnered up in the middle

1 Attacker

1 Defender

Players on the outside are also in blue or green pinnies.

Blue starts as attackers and looks to receive a ball from the outside, once they receive the ball they must look to find an open blue player on the outside.

If Green wins the ball they are now the attacker and must find an open green player and blue is the defender

Every pass connected to the outside is a point. Play 2 minute rounds. Keep tabs of Green and Blue wins each round.

- Quick decision making when you win/get on the ball to speed up the transition

- Check your shoulders

- Break pressure with your touch

  • Defenders Objective = Nearest Man Press To Predict & Covering 2 Move Accordingly To Nullify Options & Win Possession Back
  • If Defenders Win Possession They Must T2A By Dribbling Outside Of The Grid

Transition Rondo (30 mins)

6v3 Rondo, with transition. The middle 3 red win the ball they must transfer the ball over and try and play through the middle zone for points. Green has to transition and defend

8v6 Breakout (30 mins)

5v3 Rondo in the middle (same as earlier)

Green scores by playing passess through the grid. Green can go in the shaded zone, Red cannot.

If Red wins the ball they look to transition into the attack. Red attacks quickly to take advantage of 8v4 and momentum. The green 7 and 11 start there recovery run once the ball has been played out of the breakout square to make it a 8v6.

If Green win the ball they look to build out to half way line. The 6 and 8 now drop into the 1/2 from the Green rondo is activated to buildout and create 8v8
