Description

This week in development we will teach the players on How to be successful when they are close to goal. 

Using the 4 pillars of the game Technical, Tactical, Physical and Psychological (Social) choose strategically your coaching points and drift fit them through out the session. 

We will concentrate on the following learning outcomes.

Shooting: (SLO)

TCPs:

Preparation Touch

Supporting/Planting Foot next close to the ball

Toes Down Pointing to the ground

Heel Up pointing to the sky

Knee Over the Ball

Head down when making contact with the ball

Correct Technique for accuracy

Head up to observe target

Point of contact (laces)

Use the MVP system and pick an MVP at the end of the session.

Players start with 5 MVP points. They will get a point if they do something appropriate to the session or get points off if they do the opposite.

Warm Up (15 mins)

Organization

  • 18 x 20
  • Goals on the corners
  • 2-3 players per corner
  • All players must have the ball

Instructions

-As the players are coming in, have the players dribbling using for Boys: Messi and/or Ronaldo touches. Girls: Carly Lloyd or Alex Morgan touches. 

Coach divides the players into 4 different teams. 

Coach gives a certain amount of cones to each team. They will build as many towers they can with the cones and place them in their corner. The more towers you build the more points you get. Each tower worth 3 points. Each tower must have at least 5-6 cones in order for it to count. 

After 90 secs, whichever team that has the most points (Each Tower = 3 points) wins 3 MVP points. 

Now, when coach says "Go" one player will dribble the ball and tries to knocked the towers from the opposite team located across from them. Players must shoot from 5 yards for it to count. 

Each player get only 1 shot. After he/she shoots, it must quick get the ball and go back into its corner. If player knocks 1 tower then the team will get 3 points. 

If a tower gets knocked down, your team has to rebuild it in no more than 15 secs.

Technical Reps (15 mins)

Organization

  • 18 x 20
  • Goals on the corners 
  • 2-3 players per corner 
  • All players must have the ball

Instructions

  • Players from opposite corner will start with an air High 5. Players must dribble the ball through the middle square all the way to the furthest cone, take a preparation touch and then finish on the opposite goal. They will collect their ball and wait in line next to the goal they just scored on. 
  • Which ever player score the most points in 90 seconds win 2 MVP points 
  • Each team will choose a team name and every time they score they must yell their team name.

Condition Game (15 mins)

Organization

18 x 20

4 pugs

Instructions

  • Divide into 4 teams. 
  • Each team will be in a corner next to the goal. As the coach serves the ball, 
  • 1 player from each team will try to get the ball and score on the other team's' goals. 
  • Play until one player scores or until the ball is out of boundaries. 
  • Play World Cup where each team has a Country name. 
  • Whichever team scores the most goals win the World Cup Trophy. 

Regression: 

Blue plays a 1 vs 1 vs Red (Team across)

Green plays vs Black 

Coach serves 2 balls 

Coaching Points

Coach 1 or 2 moments in this activity 

Can you find space to shoot by shifting defender from one side to the other

Try to get defender away from goal to create opportunity to score.

Progression:

Divide the group into 2 teams : Blue vs Red.  Blue will defend Goals #2 and Red will defend Goals #1.

As Coach will play 1 ball in.  Players will play a 2 vs 2 as per the diagram shows.

3 vs 3/ 4 vs 4 Games (15 mins)

Organization:

1. Area size 18 x 20.

2. 3 v 3

3. 4v4

4. 6 Green and 6 Blue cones

Instructions:

Option 1:

Players split up into 4 teams and play a round robin tournament. keep

track of goals, wins draws and loses. 3 points for a win , 1 point for a

draw, 0 points for a lost

Option 2:

Play street soccer: ex; coach will take every players name on a

notepad. Each player will get 3 points for winning or 1 point for ties.

After each game played, coach will shuffle the teams so players play

each game with different teammates every time. The player with the

most points will earn the MVP award.

Coaching Points:

3 lines of attack: Defender, Midfielder, Forward

Make stoppages based on topic

Restart: 

Week 8: Direct Free kicks. Encourage players look for gaps in between players and the goal, where they can shoot and score. 

Principle of Play: Creating goal scoring opportunities/space to shoot and constantly observation on goal (Target)
