Organization:
+ Each player has a soccer ball and must remain in their own grid
Description:
The players try to use the following 4 surfaces in 1 fluid motion & in order:
1.Outside of the foot(pinky toe),
2.Inside of the foot (big toe),
3.Laces
4.Bottom (sole).
Once they have stopped it with the bottom of their foot, try to repeat the pattern with their other foot. Once the players understand the pattern, try to do it faster; still in the limited space
KEY WORDS: Outside, inside, laces & bottom
GUIDED QUESTIONS: When you are ready to move forward, what are some actions you will do before you strike the ball? What do you have to do with your foot if you want your laces to hit the ball?
ANSWERS: Look up to see where you are going. As you get closer to the ball, put your head back down & watch your foot hit the ball. Point your toe down toward the ground so your laces are facing the ball. Now, hit the ball with your laces.

Organization:
+ Each player will work within their originally assigned area
+ use 4-6 cones to mark each area, alternate colours if possible
Description:
Within their grid, the players perform the 4 surfaces from the activity above. When the coach calls out a body part (foot, elbow, hand, etc., avoid body parts above chest high) the players race to touch that body part to their soccer ball. Coach should vary the body parts and can call out 2 body parts to see how the players solve the problem.
KEY WORDS: Outside, inside, laces & bottom
GUIDED QUESTIONS: Why is it important to keep the ball close? After your foot makes contact with the ball, what do you do next?
ANSWERS: So when it is time to touch the ball, you can do it faster. If needed, turn your body in the direction of the ball, move closer to it & prepare body for the next touch on the soccer ball.

Organization:
+ Each player will now partner up with the player across from them
+ Place a tall cone in middle of the channel for players to knock over with a pass
+ OR place a ball on a cone and players look to knock the ball off with a pass
+ 2 balls per group (1 on cone and 1 used to pass)
Description:
+ start with players passing & sharing the ball with their partner across from them (focus on coaching points below to encourage proper passing technique)
+ players will then progress & look to pass the ball across the channel, attempting to knock the ball of the cone
+ each time the ball gets knocked off, that player gets 1 point
+ replace the ball on the cone & opponents turn
Make it a competition! For U8-U12 players give them a time limit of 90 seconds. Once the time is up, whoever got the most points moves up and whoever lost, moves down. Ladder type competition!
Coaching points:
+ surface area - inside, outside, laces, heel? (inside of foot will be most accurate, laces will provide power over a longer distance)
+ wind up and follow through of kicking leg
+ follow through to target - point foot to ball as you strike it
+ eyes on ball as kicking
+ balance on standing leg
