The objective of the session is to recognize when the defense shifts to the strong side, then create and use space on the opposite side.
Main Coaching Points:-Stretch Field: Full Width & Depth for maximum space-Scan/take in information-CM’s balanced to create multiple “pivot” options -Combinations to SPOA: 1 & 2 touch to gain time edge-Technique of pass: pace, driven diagonals, leading teammate-Complimentary movements: high/low(same line) & R/L(connecting lines)-Wide players opening field(separating from defenders) as ball is being switched-“Drive” into open space after SPOA: Exploit open space-Overlapping/Underlapping run from deep to create #’s UpIDEAS TO THINK ABOUT:•When SPOA, can we switch through attacking players(#9, #10 & CMs) without having to go negative with passes•Once successful in SPOA, can we attack open space & exploit numerical advantages created from switch•If successful in “Driving” forward, weak side defenders(where the ball was just switched) adjust to provide balance
