Competitive Cauldron -- 1v1 (to 2v2 if we have time)
This is a scalable high-pressure game that can be adjusted to present many different challenges to players, forcing them to continuously find new soccer solutions on the fly.
Organization:
20x10 yard space divided and marked out into 4 adjacent 5x10 yard spaces as shown
8 players divided into 4 pairs
4 balls
Cone Goals
Fours games of 1v1 are played simultaneously, one in each section. Players try to score as many times as possible in 1 minute. Score by dribbling over the end line. Notice how the red cones goals are split in two by a yellow cone. We expect that a defender can only block 1 side of the goal. In Example 'A' you see a player beat his defender in front. This awards 1 goal. If a player can beat a defender behind (Example 'B') they are awarded 2 points.
After each 1-minute game, players rotate so that each one is facing a new opponent. Each player play 4 games, thus playing each opponent from the other team once. After a quick water break, players return to play 2v2 to 4 goals, with two playing areas combine to form 1 larger space. 2 games of 2v2 are played side by side. Play 2-minute games before switching teams.

Description
25x30. All players have a ball. Push them to get as many touches as possible. I usually have them work at a high intensity for 90 seconds and then rest for 30 seconds. For example: How many touches can you get? I don't like this as it is open ended. I prefer to tell them, "Get 100 touches" in 90 seconds so that their is a clear goal. Having them take a touch and then a step is vital.
We want to make sure that each player can now perform: Scissors, Drag back / Magic Turn and another of your choosing.
Progressions
Take ____ amount of touches, and then:
- Toe taps

- Turn and Explode
