A Team to Play from the Back from a GK Possession

Build up play with a back 3

How: Pattern with a GK, Back 3 and twin screen v two CMs two CFs

The ball gets played ito the GK from the servers, ensur variety of serves here into the box for realism. When the GK secures possession...

1. Central CB to be in the opposite half of the pitch to the GK

2. Left/Right CBs to split outside the lines of the 18 yard box when the GK has secured possession

3. The two CMs are to pin the oppositon MFs to give space to the back three to get on the ball

CM's Movement (5 mins)

Movement of the CM players

1. The opposite movement is now needed from the central CB.

2. The left & right CB still make the same movement to receive the ball outside the lines of the 18 yard box when the GK has secured the ball.

3. Two CMs to make runs up the lines of the pitch to create space to play in

Option 1 (5 mins)

1. As the ball travels from the GK to the Central CB the...

2. Left CB gives width up and looks to get on the ball

3. The Right CB tucks across to keep equal distances between the back three. This closes up the gaps and reduces the risk should we lose possession.

4. Two CMs have made two runs, one away form the ball and second down the lines of the pitch to support the ball. The closest CM should be deeper than the one furthest away.

5. The Left CB can play through to the LCM who can score

Option 2 (5 mins)

1. GK plays the ball into the Right CM

2. As the ball travels from the GK to the Right CM the Central CB tucks across to keep equal distances between the back three. This closes up the gaps and reduces the risk should we lose possession.

3. As the ball travels from the GK to the Right CM the Left CB tucks across to keep equal distances between the back three. This closes up the gaps and reduces the risk should we lose possession.

4. Two CMs have made two runs, one away form the ball and second down the lines of the pitch to support the ball. The closest CM should be deeper than the one furthest away.

5. The player in possession can score if he wants
