Set Up (60 mins)

Aim:

-Red team to build their way out from the back and get attempts on the oppositions goal.

-Blue team try to win the ball back and score in Red team's goal.

.

Coaching Points:

-Can Red team remember the key coaching points from the previous training sessions regarding player positions and player movements e.g. CB's split, FB's high and wide, Mid high then one drops, ST's high as possible

-Shown are some alternative ways of Playing out from the Back

-Could the Red team utilise one of these?

Midfield

If both our Centre Backs are marked, then there will be an overload somewhere else on the pitch and it is down to the players to work it out for themselves.

.

Midfield Overload:

-In the above situation, we are 2vs1 in Midfield.

-Therefore one CM can drop in to the middle of the pitch. The other one must stay away.

-If the opposition player goes with him, then the other one will be free for the GK to play into.

If the opposition player holds position then the GK can play to the CM and we can play forwards from there.

Full Back Free:

-If one of our Fullbacks is free, the Closest Centre Back must move inside

-This should attract the opposition Striker with him

-Therefore creating space for the GK to play straight to the Fullback

Striker

If they Lock On all over the pitch and go man for man, then we need to get the ball to our Strikers as quickly as possible.

.

-Fullbacks drop deeper.

-CM's drop deeper

-CB's narrow

-Strikers stay high but expect the ball

.

-GK plays direct to either Striker who are now 2vs2.
