Activity

The players are encouraged to be creative in the space and the cones - whether that be dribble throughout the area around the different cones, pass to a team mate, or try some ball juggling

Movement Prep (10 mins)

Organization

-10 players

-2x 20x20 area (split into 2x 10x10 boxes)

Activity

-A quick movement/reaction game to help the players work on changes of direction, acceleration/deceleration, and quick decision-making. Four players start on the corners and their objective is to attempt to switch spots with another player without getting their spot taken by the middle player. The middle player can call switch after 30 seconds if they haven't moved. The last player to a corner spot becomes the middle player.

Technical Passing/Receiving (15 mins)

Organization

-10 players

Activity

-A technical passing and receiving activity. The players set-up with four on the corners with one in the middle. Use this shape to create different passing combinations. Change middle player often, work in both directions, and encourage using both feet


Variations

-middle player works for 1 minute passing and receiving around to the outside players

-combination shown - pass into middle, switch out to other corner, along the outside - and repeat

-combination - pass into middle, turn and play out opposite side, pass along the outside - and repeat

-how can your body position/first touch make the pass easier to do?

-how can communication help keep the tempo up and moving well?

Zoned 3 Goal Game (25 mins)

Organization

-10 players

-28x15 area (4x 7x15 zones)

Activity

-Each team is split into 2/3s. Put the mini groups into alternate areas. The aim is to pass to your teammates across the opposing teams area without losing possession and then to score into one of the 3 mini nets. Teams can intercept the opposing teams ball when it is being passed through their area and can try and keep possession of 2 balls.
