Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Passing and possession

Passing (10 mins)

Same Setup as last Drill

Players team up in pairs and run around passing through goals can not use the same goal back to back

Passing through the goals Calling the player's name they are passing to.

3v1 possession (15 mins)

8x8 yard triangle 3 players on the outside between cones. Only Passes through the triangle count as a point

Once pass is made the player not receiveing the pass must run to open space to give the player receiving the pass 2 options.

The pig in the middle applies pressure to the ball. Everytime the pig wins it they get a point.

Who can gain most points in 60 seconds. Switch middle player.

Possession to goal (15 mins)

The Coach is "Gate Master" 25x25 grid

The outside players "Gate blockers" are looking at the coach. When the coach points at a gate that player steps in or out of the gate. No Communication only by hand signal.

- This means the gate is closed and cannot be scored on. This causes the players inside the grid to possess the ball until a gate opens.

- This will cause the players to lift their head and look for the open gate and they'll begin to guide eachother by communcating where the open gate is or isn't.

- Play first team to score two goals wins and then switch the players on the outside.

* Encourage players to communicate and to keep the ball in possession when the gates are closed.

- Protect the ball

- Complete and confident passes
