SSG

THE SESSION:

  • Use pugs, split pugs or big goal if you have GK
  • 4V2 in shaded area for team in possession
  • Yellow flats = retreat line
  • Minimum 3-5 passes (coach discretion) before playing in to next zone (via dribble or pass) before looking to score at opposite end (create 3v3)
  • If ball goes out, play restarts from end line for team in possession (have a good supply of balls at each end)

PROGRESSION:

  • A split pass allows you to progress to next zone
  • Limit to 3 touches in build up phase
REGRESSION:
  • Add in neutral player

KEY MESSAGES:

  • Ball speed
  • Play on angles
  • Detail on pass (on the ground, back foot, correct weight, etc.)
  • Minimal touches
  • Decision to play forward or retain
  • What happens if we lose possession in build-up?? (defensive transition)
  • Advanced - can the two higher players rotate to receive in space
