Activity #1 (10 mins)

Organization:

  • 20x20 yard area
  • Goals
  • Balls

Instructions:

  • Players try to scores X amount of goals in Y amount of time

Coaching Points:

  • How do I strike the ball
  • Where can I find a goal
  • How can I get there quickly

Inside Scissors (5 mins)

Organization:

  • 2x2 yard area (shown)
  • Ball

Instructions:

  • Ball positioned in line with your outside leg
  • With outside leg, touch the ball with the inside of the foot rolling the ball to the opposite side of the body
  • After the inside touch, continue with the foot rotating around the front of the ball in a circular, step-over motion
  • Stop the ball with the inside of the opposite foot after the ball has rolled across the body
  • See how many times you can execute without it rolling away
  • See how many times you can execute with the opposite foot

Coaching Points:

  • Apply enough pressure on the ball to get it to roll the width of your body
  • Try to execute without the ball rolling away from you

Scissor Cannon (5 mins)

Organization:

  • 2x2 yard area (shown)
  • Ball

Instructions:

  • Ball positioned in line with your outside leg
  • With inside leg, go around the ball in a step-over motion
  • As inside leg completes rotation around the ball, hop on outside leg, taking touch with the inside of foot
  • Stop ball with the inside of the foot of the step-over leg
  • See how many you can execute in a row before needing a break

Coaching Points:

  • Apply enough pressure on the ball to roll it to opposite side of body
  • Hop off standing leg to get it out of the way for ball to roll to opposite side

Instructions:

- Players work on juggling (1 touch/1 bounce)

- Try to progress to 1 touch/1 bounce/2 touches/ 1 bounce

- Start with ball in hands to begin the juggle, try to progress to lifting the ball

Coaching Points:

- Laces for the touch

- Weight of the touch

- Keep moving feet to follow the ball

Activity #3 (10 mins)

Organization:

20x20 yard area

Instructions:

- Players divide into pairs

- Multiple 1v1 games going on at the same time (only against their partner)

- Attacker can score on any goal

- If the Defender steals the ball, they must try to keep it away from the Attacker until the end of the time (If so, they get 3 points)

- 8 games of 1:00 minutes each with 30 seconds rest in between

Coaching Points:

- Protect ball from Defender

- Get to the open goal quickly (and shoot)

- Change direction if no space, Defender, or others in the way

2v2 (or whatever numbers avialable - 4v4 maximum)

Regular game

5 games of 4:00 minutes each with 1:00 minute rest in between

Coaching Points:

Avoid getting ball stolen by the Defender.

Look for, and sprint into the open space.

Try to feint and change direction against the Defender.
