Overloads (40 mins)

Team Learning Objectives - Improve midfield play

Session Organisation - The team out of possession are locked in to their zones as shown. The team in possession are allowed to create overloads in each of their thirds. In the example above the Reds have moved the ball into the middle third and are therefore able to make a 5 v 3 (1 attacker & 1 defender). If the Reds can progress the ball into the attacking third they can create a 3 v 2.

How to Play - Look for suitable positions to support the ball if you are moving to create an overload.

Can you dribble into the attacking third to create an overload?

Progressions - no restriction on movement.

Add neutral players than can play anywhere.
