Organization:

  • 30x30 yard grid


  • Each player with a ball

Instructions:

  • Players move around the area avoiding other players and finding gaps of space where to dribble.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Technique 1: Dribble with the outside of the food taking small touches, keeping head up
  • Technique 2: Dribble with acceleration, when there is not space to go forward perform a 180-degree turn and accelerate
  • Technique 3: Dribble taking long touches to advance faster, head up after each touch

Regressions/Progressions:

  • R: Make space bigger by 40x40
  • P: Make space smaller by 25x25

1v1 Inverted Goals (20 mins)

Organization:

  • 35x35y grid
  • Players split into two teams and set across the fields
  • One team starts attacking and then change roles

Instructions:

  • 2 mini goal set backward from each other leaving an ample lane between them
  • Attackers can score in any goal. If the defender recovers the ball can score as well

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Oriented touch to gain advantage
  • Use the appropriate running technique to beat the defender and score
  • Identify the defender position and exploit space

Regressions/Progressions:

  • R: Defender must wait for the attacker to touch the ball to be able to pressure
  • P: Attacker must score in 10 seconds or less

  • How to get away from pressure? Accelerate to open space
