Orientation

 

 

Team Tactical Principles

1. Spread out

2. Create triangles

3. pass or dribble forward when possible to keep possession

4. Support the ball, attack

5. Create numbers up situation 2v1 or a 1v1

 

 

Set Up: Hexagon shape start with 7 yard spread but can be adjusted to ability of players

 

Desription: 4v1 Rondo,(adjust space according to the ability), Attract defenders by dribbling and to free up space for teammates. Defender can steal the pass only to start. Rotate the defenders. Work and focus on players opening body with 1st touch to give themselves options. Players without the ball, moving to create passing angles to recieve the ball.

 

Coaching Points:

Open body with 1st touch to create more options.

Create passing lanes

Dribble or Pass

Commit the defender before passing

 

Progression:

Defenders can tackle the ball.

Add defender, increase or decrease space provided, can make 4v2 or 5v2 and change space provided by their ability.

Expanded Small Activity (20 mins)

Set Up:

-Two team

-Two neutrals

-Grid 20 x 25

Description:

Blue start with a ball attack using the outside players to create a 4v2 situation, if the defending team wins the ball they can now attack in a 4v2 situation. When the ball leaves the field for any reason 2 new players come from each end, whatever team loses the ball out of bounds the other team starts with the ball.

Coaching Points:

1. open body with first touch

2. movement off ball

3. communication

4. weight and accurate passes

5. composure on the ball

6. when to take touch and hold the ball and when to pass

 

Progression: If a group of 2 score they stay on and the opposite side starts the attack.

Or ball ust go to one or both outside players before you can score.

Teaching/Learning (25 mins)

Set Up: 30L x 40W or bigger if ability and space permits.

 

Description: 3v2. Play starts with the GK 2 outside backs and center mid back (Blue) in the attack try to build and score in 3 small goals. 2 purple defenders can score on big goal if they win the ball.
