The Session:
7v7 Possession with Transition. Red team plays keep away on their "attacking" 1/2 & try to rack up as many passes in a row as possible. if ball is taken away by blue, blue plays over to their "attacking" 1/2 & try to rack up as many passes as possible. Goal is to continually add # of passes until first team gets to 100. (adapted from LFC Women's 1st team Training)

Principles :

2 attackers must follow the ball into the other zone to support their teammate.
The player in the Chanel may not defend before the ball is in the other zone

The Session:
2 Teams; 1 keeper. Divide field int 1/3s as shown in picture (width of 18 or a few yards smaller). Balls all begin at top of gauntlet. 3 Defenders in box 1 & box 2; 1 defender along with GK in box 3 to begin. Defenders may only defend in their box once the ball is played in. 4 players begin game by playing into box #1 & work to posses & play forward into box #2. Same for box #2, but once they have broken past the 18yd line into box #3 they may shoot at any time. If defending team wins the ball, they are allowed to move freely between boxes #1-3 to possess the ball for a set # of passes to get a point. If attacking team wins ball they immediately attack the goal again. If ball is played out of bounds, play restarts at top of gauntlet with new group.
Progressions:
1) Begin with smaller play - 3 v2 in each box & 1v1 w/keeper in 6 yd box. Move the boxes closer to goal& make the width just beyond the width of the 6 yd box. So the 3rd box is a 1v1 w/keeper.
2) Limit # of touches by attackers/defenders once they win the ball to possess.

THE SESSION:
Small Sided Game - Flying Changes 4 v 4
Divide players into 4 teams of 4 (may go 5 v 5 if #'s allow). 2 teams play 4 v 4 on field while the other 2 teams are waiting on endline. If blue team scores, red team exits the endline they defended & the yellow team on that end brings a ball to attack the blue team and blue jumps to press. Ball out of bounds on sideline, normal throw in. If Red teams scores on blue team, blue exits the endline where the green team is & the green team then enters field & attacks the red team and red jumps to press. Defending team receives 3 points for pressing the attacking team, & winning the ball back in their attacking 1/2 to score a goal. If the red team shoots & misses & ball goes out endline, the red team exits that endline & the green team brings a ball on to the field. The blue team turns to defend the oncoming green team.
Play 5 minute games, then change up teams.

-Look out for transition and how players counter attack
-Compete

-Organization in defensive transition - Jump to press, lines of D behind pressure
-Creative Play
-Goals-Goals-Goals!

SAQ - 1v1 Battle (20 mins)
The Session:
20 x 20 yd square. 2 teams (Red vs Blue)- each with a speed ladder on thier side (you can use cones if needed). On coaches command all 4 players complete designated footwork through ladder then sprint to middle square for 2 v 2 to endline game. As soon as those 4 enter the square the next four players complete speed ladder & then join group to create a 4v4 to endline. Once players have finished through endline, new group starts on coaches command.
Progression:
1) No ball on first progression assign players as attacker v defender & then have defender tag attacker prior to getting through endline.
2) Add ball for second to create 1v1 to endline. First to ball is attacker. Player gets 1 pt for dribbling through endline.
3)Change footwork pattern within ladder
4) Rotate teams from A to B to C to D so they can all rep from different angles of approach
5) Combine Yellow & Green to make 1 team & Blue w/Red & use only 1 ball so it becomes 2 v 2 to end line.
