Focus + Session design (Pressing practice- linked to 9v9)

  • Ball starts with GK aim of the practice is for one team to transfer the ball to the other grid, the ball can only be transferred when it is in the middle zone & once they completed 3 passes 
  • If the defending team wins the ball they need to attack the goal they are facing for a goal each
  • If it does switch then the covering 3 will go and press the next box
  • 6 x 3 minutes 

Progressions/Regressions

  • One of the covering 3 cms can jump up to press in the box (Only ever allowed 1 at one time) + Can play from own box now once passed 3 times

Coaching detail

  • How can we trap them on one side
  • 1v1 defensive principles- Slowing down on approach
  • How can covering 3 recognise where ball is going to either get ready to engage or screen passes 
  • Leaving the furthest players free- If the ball switches desire to get over
