In a grid, 10x20, have gates off centered to the sides. Initiate game by playing ball across to opposing team and then close down and play 1v1.
Coaching Points:
-Close down - get to attacker quickly, curved run, while ball is travelling.
-Control - must remain under control, as get closer to attacker take small choppy steps.
-Contain - keep attacker to one side, away form goal. Make play predictable

Use a grid 30x20, where players are split into two teams. One team defends a big goal with 2 players against the opposing team that plays with 3. Team with 2 can score on either of two counter gates if they win ball. Team with 2 initiates the game by passing the ball into opposing team.
Coaching Points:
-Communication - must know who is closing down, who provides cover.
-Which way to force attacker, away from goal, towars cover
-Make play predictable

In a 4v4 setting, split the teams up evenly and have 2 goals Each with a goalkeeper. Players initiate the game with a pass forward toward their target player. Once the game is initiated all four attackers try to score while 4 defenders try to win the ball and counter attack.
Coaching Points:
-Communication - must know who is closing down, who provides cover.
-Which way to force attacker
1) Cover 1st def in case they're beat on dribble
2) Cover if ball is passed to 2nd attacker
3) Cover angle to cut off direct shot

Facilitate the game and help with positions, positioning, and game format. Facilitate a basic scrimmage with a goalkeeper. Allow the kids to “PLAY” but give guidance when necessary. Use a “coaching in the game” approach to emphasize the topics from this week’s training.
