Attacking Objective: Players demonstrate the ability to recognize and connect to hard runs. 

Defending Objective: Players demonstrate the ability to disrupt hard runs by bumping and using arms to show down.

Phase 3 Warm Up: Make Runs (25 mins)

Game Objective:

ATTACK: Warm up to make runs 

DEFEND: Disrupt runs 

Topic:

ATTACK: Adjust and Readjust to Shoot

DEFEND: Anticipate and Intervene

ATTACK: Forwards and CAM

Where: Final Third

When: 

ATTACKING CUES: When BC makes eye contact 

DEFENDING CUES: Watch BC eyes, anticipate and go

What:

ATTACKING: Adjusting our run 

DEFENDING: Anticipate; Eyes on ball; If near ball step to pressure; if off ball drop to protect goal and cut off passing angles.  

Layout: 30 x 30; 5 yards in middle for CAM 

Restrictions: 2:4  Two minute game; four games 

Players: 3v4+3 

Scoring:

ATTACK: One point for moving ball across line. 

DEFEND: One point for each recovery

 

Game: The bumpers play the entry pass into the hard runner. Free flowing game.

DEFENSE: Disrupt run

Restrictions:  3:8:1

Scoring:

ATTACK: One point for completed run. 

DEFEND: One point for each recovery 

 

Game: Regular: four passes completed before run can be made. When defense recovers ball then team that losses it moves to the middle. One defender can go  and one defender can drop.

Game: Regular: Field divided in half. 4v3 in each half with bumper to play the ball into for hard runs. Bumpers can also make hard runs and shoot or play the ball in. Hard runs can be made from anywhere on field.  Free flowing game.

Phase 3: Final Game (20 mins)

Game Objective:

ATTACK: Make a hard run. 

DEFEND: Disrupt hard run.

DEFENDING: Anticipate, close, or intervene. 

 

Layout: Half field 

Restrictions: either 8v8 with 8 conditioning or divide players in half; Two touch; 3 sessions; 8 minute games; 1 cycle.  3:8:1 

Scoring:

ATTACK: One point for hard run; one point for goal 

DEFEND: One point for disrupting a hard run.
