Playing Gaps + Crossing & Finishing (15Min)
Set Up:
Three Tall Cones = Defenders / obstacles
Wide players start in Lane (red cones to help visual)
Organization:
Player 1 plays a ball through a gap to one of the wide players
The player receives the ball and dribbles down the lane and gets ready to cross / pass into team mates
The player who did not receive ball, makes a run to the net to try and finish cross & the middle player (#2) turns and also runs at the net to try and finish cross
After the shot, Player 1 moves into player 2 and the wide players on the cones (3&4) moves into the (5&6) position
Players 2,5,6 return to the line.
Play should be quick and line should not be stood around waiting, just a short 'rest' between plays.
Coaching Points:
1: Find the Gaps! (players 5&6 cannot hide behind 3/4, they must be visible to 1)
2: Player 5/6 Can they look up before they cross/ pass to know where their players are
3: Can players 2& 6 get to the net to support & finish
4: Correct shooting / finishing mechanics if needed
Progressions:
Gold Team - rather than emphasis on crossing, we can start with passing

Playing Through Gaps Introduction:
Foosball Game: 10 minutes
Organization:
2 teams (Pinnies )
Red (Attackers)
Blue ( Lateral Movement )
- Building play out from the back, attacking team must play the ball into the next third through the 'gaps' (ex: Section 1 can only play to section 2, 2 can only play forward to 3)
- Defensive / Lateral players: Shifting / shuffling as a unit (communication?)
- Work on this for 5 minutes until group understands.
- Build into a competition: Each group has 2 minutes to score as many goals as they can! (Winners get water, other team picks up all cones before water)
Coaching Points:
1. Keep the ball moving in possession (Player on and off ball changing the angles: Players should not be flat)
2. Decision making process (see gap -> play gap) (Can we try and move the ball quickly?)
3. Passing mechanics (2 touch football, good receiving touch and quick pass)
4. Movement off the ball (attacking players making themselves a target)
Progressions:
Increase tempo
