Progress to 7v4 Rondo (20mins)
This provides a game-like playing structure. With wingers on the outside, a center-back, center-midfielder, and forward.
Attackers:
- Wingers should look to connect with the central player and provide options by moving up and down their designated area. 1-2 touch max.
- Center-midfielder must be constantly moving providing his teammates with options. If given the opportunity they can dribble in the box and pass towards a teammate. Only one player is allowed to dribble when attacking.
- Center-back/Forward should shift left and right in their designated area providing options. COACHES emphasize playing to the outside to simulate playing out from the back in games.
Defenders:
- Take away lanes for passes
- Apply pressure immediately on the player with the ball
- Should constantly be shifting toward an open-player
- Watch out for through balls.
Rotate after 10 mins to provide others the opportunity to work on defending

Set-Up - Blues are always the defending team, 7/9/10 are always attacking. 2 teams of 3 rotate.
The Ball starts on the halfway line, 1 of the teams of 3 combines with either the 9/10, then plays a wide pass to 7 who runs onto the ball to cross. Once the ball is played wide, then all players attack the box. Defending team must play the waiting team if they win the ball.
Progressions - Vary cross types.
Coaching Points
- Make runs into different parts of the area, front post, back post, penalty spot, edge of the box etc.
- Change speed and angles when making runs, make it hard for the defenders to judge your movements.
- Make runs relevant to the position the cross is coming from, and anticipate the most likely outcomes according to the cross taker.
