Technical - Underarm Roll & Overarm Throw. (30 mins)
Key Factors
Make sure the arm and hand follow through in a straight line.
Step forward into the roll and stay close to the ground.
Release the ball just before your arm moves past the front foot (for the roll)
Keep eyes fixed firmly on the target
Make early decision on what technique to use (roll or throw).
Organisation
Set-up will be in the shape of a diamond of 14 yards made up of 4 cones - 2x red and 2x blue (facing opposite each other). In the middle of the diamond will be a smaller diamond of 2 yards made up of spots (2x red and 2x blue) acting as passing gates as shown.
Phase 1 - GKs work in pairs and will simply aim to roll the ball underarm to their partner. Both pairs will undergo the exercise simultaneously.
Phase 2 - GKs will work in their pairs; and will progress on to the overarm throw.
Progressions 1) GKs get a point every time they roll the ball through the gate (competitive).
2) GKs will get bonus points should they hit the other pairs ball.
3) GKs will distribute the ball around the diamond.
